Reiki pronounced ray-key, is a Japanese form of energy healing dating back to the 1800’s and came about thanks to a man called Dr. Mikao Usui. Rei means Universal and Ki means Life Force Energy. It involves a Reiki Practitioner/Master channelling energy through them and into the client by placing their hands either just above or laying lightly on different parts of the body. Personally I like the hands on method because I feel like my connection with the client is stronger that way, but this is not necessary because Reiki can be sent anywhere and to anything! So a little more on Dr Usui.. Universal Life Force Energy has been around since day 0 because it is a natural thing, but Dr Usui did have something to do with helping the word and the practise get out there. Usui was a man who studied medicine, psychology and theology. He travelled a lot and went down many career paths until he found his true calling and lived in a Monastery as a Monk. During this time he went on a spiritual journey of self discovery which lead him to a place near Mt Kurama. It was here that symbol images were shown to him during deep meditation (or unconsciousness, no one is quite sure about this detail) and these symbols are still used now by Reiki Practitioners/Masters during their healing sessions. I am not going to go through all of the ins and outs of the Reiki symbols and how we use them because it all gets a little complicated, but to cut a long story short when you are practising, learning and being attuned to Reiki then these symbols are extremely important. At Practitioner level there are three main symbols and at Master level there is one more. I have been attuned to all levels and Master so you can be sure with me you are getting a high level of healing. Now I could honestly go on and on about the history of Reiki because there is just so much, it really has a wonderful history to it but I know that the main thing people want to know about is what does it actually do? So as I said before Reiki is a form of energy healing. The healing energy is channeled through the Practitioner into the client. There have been quite a few different forms of Reiki come up over the years and one of them is the Angelic kind. I have been attuned to Master level in both Usui and Angelic so tend to mix the two together. I start off at the head and move around the body letting my intuition tell me where I need to place my hands as well as focusing on the main Chakras. I also may just stay at the clients head for the whole session. (but just because I am sat there for 30-60 minutes, it doesn't mean that I'm not doing anything) Being a Spiritual Medium I also tend to get a lot of help from my guides and my clients guides who also let me know where I need to be healing and what blockages are going on through the body. Usually I will be given a colour of a chakra that is blocked and a message from the clients guides. Whilst healing crystals do raise the energy vibration it is not necessary to use them and it is completely upto the client whether we add them or not. When Healing Crystals are used during a Reiki session, I place each of the Chakra Crystals on each Chakra place along the body. I have a specific large set for this purpose which I absolutely adore! Reiki is a beautiful, natural way of healing that has been passed down through so many years. It seems to be gaining more popularity due to people seeing the results of it working and that even doctors are starting to see the benefits and recommending Holistic Therapies to their patients. Even just by trying to live by the 5 Reiki principles there is a chance you can change your whole mindset on life. By saying these 5 principles to yourself in a morning, you are much more likely to have a better day. It is about taking one day at a time and after a bit of practice, you will start to think in a much more positive way every single day. It is about living in the NOW, not letting the worries of yesterday roll into today, or the worries about tomorrow rolling into today which is how we tend to live our lives. Reiki isn't just about the treatment, it is a way of living and it can be enjoyed by everyone!

Bliss Holistic Healing xx Traditional Reflexology is a treatment which involves a Therapist applying pressure to different parts of the hands or feet with their hands, but mostly their thumbs. It is based on the idea that the different zones/parts on a foot or hand connect and correspond with different body parts and organs. Reflexology is known as a Chinese treatment but actually dates back over 5,000 years ago to the Egyptians and Indians. An ear, nose and throat surgeon named Dr William Fitzgerald was the founder of Zone Therapy, which is what it was called before Reflexology. The modern version that we use today was brought to light by a physiotherapist called Eunice Ingham and it is her who developed the map of the entire body on the feet which all Reflexologists use to this day. Eunice found that by using acupressure or massage techniques on the different zones of the foot, there were positive effects to their corresponding body parts. Reflexology is practised by both medical and non medical practitioners because there has been so much study and research that has shown positive results. There have been many variations of Reflexology over the years but I practice the Thai version. The reason why I love their method is because the whole of the foot is worked upon by using pressure with a massage stick. Massage with the hands and thumbs is then incorporated into the routine. In my opinion by using the stick instead of just the thumbs you are able to add pressure, pinpoint zones, work on the foot in depth by using different techniques and to be honest I find it much more enjoyable and it offers something different to normal Reflexology. I also offer the option of adding hot stones to the treatment which allows for an even deeper massage. So the benefits of Reflexology are Relaxation Increased blood circulation Improved nerve function Cleanses and detoxifies the body Eases headaches and migraines Balances energy and the Chakras Reduces stress and tension Promotes muscle relaxation Calms and soothes Provides comfort Gives pain relief and so much more... Like all Holistic Therapies the benefits are endless. Thai Reflexology at Bliss is a wonderful way to promote natural healing around the body and to relax the mind, body and soul together. They are both extremely difficult to master but once you get the hang of it, you will be glad you took time out to experience it. I will start with some information about Meditation. It has been around for thousands of years and in Latin means 'to ponder'. Meditation first started as a religious practise and to help with Spiritual growth, but now it is also used for the purpose of relaxation, stress reduction and to improve self awareness and improvement. There is still this stigma attached to it that to practise Meditation you have to be a hippy and far out there, but this is really not the case. Meditation is difficult to practice due to the way we live our lives in the present day. Our lives are so full of stress, pressure and noise that we just don't know how to calm our minds. Technology has played a huge part in us not being able to still the mind and be in a state of peace, because we are never off it! We are constantly on our phones, watching TV, listening to music, playing games etc that our brain just doesn't get the time to stop! Right up until we go to sleep we are on our phones. Texting, updating Social Media, browsing the internet, watching videos and people don't realise how unhealthy it is. I am not saying that technology is the devil or anything like that because I use it every single day, but what I am saying is that we need to take time out every now and then to let ourselves just stop and breathe! It is thanks to Meditation that I have been able to open up my Mediumship, Once I had mastered how to clear my mind, I was able to hear and sense things that I couldn't before. I had taken myself back to basics, where there was no noise around and nothing taking up my thoughts. By calming the mind, I was able to let other things in and to be more aware. This wasn't my intention when I first started to Meditate, it just kind of happened. I am not saying that by meditating you will open up all kinds of gifts you didn't know you had, but it will open up your mind to sense things and notice more of what is going on around you. By giving yourself time out from technology, noise and stress you are having the chance to let go of tension and reflect on what is important in life instead of the worries that are going around your head. Meditation is not about sitting cross legged on the floor like a Buddha (although a lot of people do find this helpful) it is about finding somewhere that is calm, free from noise and comfortable. At first it is extremely hard to stop thoughts coming into your head such as 'what am I going to make for tea?' did I lock the door? why did I say that today? but this is normal. It takes a lot of practice which is why I offer coaching so that you can do it with someone else who is already able to calm the mind and not judge you for wanting to learn how to Meditate. With me you do not need to worry about feeling or looking silly because I will be doing the exact same thing as you! So what about Mindfulness? Well it is extremely similar but whilst Meditation is the awareness of NOTHING, Mindfulness is the awareness of SOMETHING. Mindfulness can be done anywhere at anytime, it just means that you are living in the moment, in the here and now, not re living yesterday and not time travelling to tomorrow. It is about paying attention and noticing what is happening in the present rather than letting your thoughts run wild and lose concentration on what you are supposed to be doing By practising Mindfulness you will be able to tune into your surroundings and notice things that you didn't before. You will start to appreciate life more and be thankful for the things and people around you. You will start to realise that yesterday and tomorrow don't matter because its the HERE and NOW that does. So here are the benefits of practising both Meditation and Mindfulness Clears the mind Provides relaxation Helps you to appreciate life more Reduces anxiety and depression Improves cognition Lowers stress Helps with Spiritual growth Helps you to sleep better Puts things and life into perspective Relieves pain Better breathing Boosts energy Controls anger Balances the Chakras and soooooooo much more!! Like all Holistic Therapies the benefits are endless. Meditation and Mindfulness at Bliss is a wonderful way to promote natural healing around the body and to relax the mind, body and soul together. Schizophrenia Psychosis severe personality disorder Epilepsy high blood pressure severe PTSD Bliss Holistic Healing xx Our subconscious mind is often compared to as a computer hard drive where all of our memories, habits and feelings are stored. Hypnotherapy is used to lead a person into a deep guided state of relaxation, also known as trance which enables a persons subconscious to be more open to suggestions, ideas and goals. This particular type of therapy is able to help people break habits such as smoking or over eating. It can also help with panic attacks, anxiety and depression. The science behind Hypnotherapy has been documented since the 18th Century, before that it was put down to magic and sorcery which is most certainly is not. It is very much like guided meditation where you are coaxed by the Hypnotherapist into a deep relaxation state. It is at this point where your subconscious is wide open to new ideas and suggestions. It is almost like doing a bit of re wiring to get things booted up and working again. Our sub-conscious takes up the majority of our brain and it is where all of our emotions, feelings, memories, habits, addictions etc are stored, and is this bit that needs a little bit of tweaking every now and again. Hypnotherapy is the perfect therapy to do this because it gets you so relaxed in trance that you are open to new ideas. There is no magic behind it, it is just extremely clever. Hypnotherapy speaks to your sub conscious mind and sometimes you might not even realise what is being said. But this is ok because your sub conscious is taking it all in for you. The other form of Hypnotherapy is Hypnosis. This is the version used for entertainment and is often referred to as stage Hypnosis. It is just as real as Hypnotherapy but is used for entertainment only. I have to say that this type has not really appealed to me because the main purpose of me practising Hypnotherapy is to make a difference to someones life and change it for the better, not to have a good laugh at their expense. So what is Hypnotherapy used for and what are the benefits? It can be used to break life long bad habits and behaviors, it is used to tackle phobias, anxiety, depression, trauma and stress. There are types of Hypnotherapy for everything. One of the most popular is the Gastric Band Operation that is done on a virtual level through to your sub-conscious. It takes you through the whole operation in your mind whilst you are in a deep state of relaxation (trance) this has proven to be effective in helping people to lose weight without having to go under the knife for real. There are so many other types of Hypnotherapy to use for all different problems and issues. By using the power of the mind, you are able to make a difference to the body. Of course at Bliss I prefer to add Spiritual practice to my treatments so that I can offer something a bit different. I ask my clients to focus on a crystal pendulum and the sound of my voice to lead them into a deep state of relaxation. Healing crystals are also placed on the body in order to balance the whole body and mind as we go further into Hypnotherapy. Like all Holistic Therapies the benefits are endless. Hypnotherapy at Bliss is a wonderful way to promote natural healing around the body and to relax the mind, body and soul together. It has been passed on through generations of the family and is encouraged from a very early age in order to promote strong and healthy hair growth. It has also been used by barbers in India as part of the service to their customers. The word Shampoo comes from the Hindi word 'Champi, which means massage of the head. These stones have a rich iron content which retains the heat. The heat and the weight from the stones relaxes the muscles which allows the Therapist to give a light or deep tissue massage. The practice of Hot Stone Massage/Therapy goes back approximately 5,000 years and there seems to be a little confusion about whether it started in India or in China, but I have also read that it could have been from Greece. I guess no one will ever know, but what we do know is that it is a wonderful treatment for relaxing the muscles in the body which improves both the body and the mind The physical benefits of Hot Stone Therapy, Relief from pain and muscle spasms Blood flow improvement Increase of blood circulation Increase of energy Flexibility improvement Releases toxins Improves skin appearance Hot stone massage also has benefits for the mind such as Reducing stress and tension Relieves anxiety and depression Promotes sleep Provides comfort due to the warmth and touch Relaxes the mind Improves Irritability Sending you into a deep relaxed state emotionally Like all Holistic Therapies the benefits are endless. We focus on healing the whole of a person which is the mind, body, emotional and Spiritual parts that make us who we are. The physical massage takes care of the body to relieve stress and tension, which then relaxes the mind, clearing out any emotional blockages which can relieve symptoms such as depression or anxiety. It also speaks to you Spiritually whilst you are in a deep state of relaxation. A Reiki Massage is a Holistic Massage with 10 minutes of Reiki added. Personally this is my favourite type of massage because it works to heal a person on every level. The added Reiki time just adds that extra bit of healing. Aromatherapy Pure Essential Oils are a preference although I would 100% recommend them due to the amount of goodness and healing qualities that are in them. Just the smell alone from Essential Oils can have amazing results, helping problems such as Insomnia or anxiety. In our modern way of living many people do not seem to realise that physical illness effects the mind and vise versa. It is so important to take care of the whole body in order to be fully balanced. We don't seem to see the importance of taking time out to care for ourselves but I can't stress enough just how important it actually is! Before I was Spiritually aware, I never used to think about taking the time to just be me, to have some alone time, to relax and unwind because I thought it seemed selfish and wrong for putting myself before others. I have come to realise that I need that time away from everyone and everything to recharge, to let go of tension, anxiety, stress and irritability otherwise it just keeps building up. I came to realise that by looking after me, I am then looking after others. A Holistic or Reiki Massage is the perfect way to unwind and relax every part of you so that you can be the best version of yourself. Here are some of the benefits Soothes and calms the mind Soothes aching, sore muscles Relieves stress and tension throughout your whole self Boosts self esteem Increases circulation Reduces inflammation Lifts brain fog Eases depression and anxiety Releases and relieves emotional distress Clears energy blocks Improves the condition of the skin Balances the Chakras Provides comfort Increases energy levels Like all Holistic Therapies the benefits are endless. Traditionally cups have been made out of Buffalo Horn, glass, Bamboo, bronze and tin but are now also available in plastic and silicone. There are a few different ways of practicing cupping, one is called Dry Cupping, also known as static cupping. This is when the cups are placed on areas of the body and left there for a period of time. Back in the day a flame was used to produce a vacuum in a cupping vessel, which was then applied to the skin, this is still used by some practitioners who prefer to do Cupping the traditional way but now it seems that most therapists use the plastic versions which have a pump to create the suction instead. Another way is called Wet Cupping. This one involves the practitioner making a small incision on the skin, placing the cup back over and letting the suction draw out a small amount of blood which is said to remove negative toxins from the body to promote natural healing Although these techniques are extremely effective, they do leave the dreaded red circle that is associated with Cupping due to the cups being placed in one area for a period of time. The way around this is using the gliding technique which is the one that I use. It is done with silicone cups which are soft, flexible and easy to man oeuvre over the body areas whilst still keeping suction. Massage oils are used to provide a lubricant for the cups to glide over the body, pulling up the skin and muscles with it as it moves along. This means that you are getting all of the benefits of a Cupping treatment but with a little more relaxation and of course NO RED CIRCLES! Of course there are still some people who do prefer the static cupping option and I do offer this as one of my treatments. Having a Cupping massage stimulates the natural healing response of the body and some of the benefits of this treatment are Pain relief Improved blood flow and circulation Stress and tension relief Encourages detoxification by stimulating the blood and lymph flow Promotes relaxation Reduces cellulite Muscle relaxation Like all Holistic Therapies the benefits are endless. A Cupping Massage at Bliss is a wonderful way to promote natural healing around the body and to relax the mind, body and soul together. It is also said to have been practiced by the 'Indian Hopi tribe' which is apparently where it got its name. However...after doing more research the Hopi tribe have confirmed in the past that they do not use this method of healing and never have, so where it came from exactly is still unknown. There have apparently even been disputes with the Hopi Tribe and leading ear candle makers about using the Hopi name. How true this is I really have no idea. So I will just stick to the facts that this type of treatment has been used for thousands of years and practised by Ancient Greeks, Egyptians and Romans. An ear candle does not look like a traditional candle. It is more of a cone type tube made of unbleached cotton and beeswax. This tube is then placed into the ear canal and set alight. The flame creates a vacuum suction which is said to draw out impurities. I am going to confirm an extremely important thing to note about ear candling before you book an appointment for this treatment....IT DOES NOT REMOVE EAR WAX! Also THE DEBRIS LEFT IN THE CANDLE IS NOT WAX FROM YOUR EAR IT IS MORE LIKELY TO BE FROM THE CANDLE ITSELF! Many other therapists and Holistic practitioners either like to tell you differently or they genuinely believe that it does, but after doing research and having done my own experiments I can confirm that it is not likely to all be wax from your ear. When an ear candle is lit and placed in the ear, the results and debris left in the candle are exactly the same as when a candle is lit and just held burning out of the ear. Once the candle is opened up you are likely to see clumps of wax which is from the burning candle itself and not your ear. Some therapists also say that the crackling during the treatment is the candle removing the wax when in fact the crackling is literally because there is a flame burning down a tube in your ear! However..I do believe that it draws out some impurities because the ears do feel a lot clearer after treatment. I have also had some clients where we have opened up the candles and there has been more wax in one than in the other, they have then confirmed that the one with the most debris in was the ear that felt most blocked and now felt better. Based on this I believe it could be either coincidence or that the ear candle treatment does remove SOME impurities and toxins which then mixes with the candle wax causing more debris to be in one more than the other. But again this is not a fact and not guaranteed. When someone books in for Hopi Ear Candling I will always explain all of this and advertise it more of a relaxation therapy and not a way of removing wax! After each ear is treated, a facial and ear massage is given in order to further release blockages in the ears and sinuses. So here are the POSSIBLE benefits of an Ear Candling session due to the ears feeling a lot clearer after treatment.. Eases Headaches Reduces stress and tension Eases Tinnitus Clears brain fog Reduces jaw pain Draws out debris and impurities Helps sore throats Releases ear and sinus blockage Can help decrease snoring Provides warmth and comfort due to to the heat Provides relaxation Improves blood circulation Balances the Throat, Third Eye and Crown Chakras Improves hearing Stimulates the bodies immune system Reduces anxiety Improves colour perception Improves taste Relief from cold and Flu Reduce snoring Like all Holistic Therapies the benefits are endless.
