Mehndi Henna Art is a type of temporary skin decoration (much like a temporary tattoo) using a paste made from the plant Lawsonia inermis. The paste is prepared into a cone shaped tool which enables the artist to create intricate Mehndi Art designs on the body. This beautiful type of body artwork dates back over 5,000 years and is said to originate from Egypt. There is some amazing history behind this type of skin decoration and it is used in many cultures during celebrations and traditions, however it is quickly becoming popular all over the world due to its unique style and beauty. The Henna paste is dark brown/black and is wet when first applied, it is used to create a design which then dries and flakes off. The design then goes orange and over the next few days the stain turns into a dark brown/maroon colour leaving the beautiful artwork that was first created. The Henna design lasts between 2-3 weeks sometimes more depending on aftercare. You can find out more information about Mehndi Henna Art Here
