There are many reasons why a person may seek help from a counsellor. Every single person at some point in their life is going to get down and stressed. In our modern world people have forgotten what is most important and have become too focused on material things and work our fingers to the bones to get what we want. This is not a bad thing at all!, its great that people work for what they want in life..but what I am saying is that by doing this, we can put a huge amount of pressure on ourselves and sometimes other people pile the pressure on too! Being able to provide amazing things for yourself and your family is great but sometimes we feel under pressure to get things right. Sometimes you might feel like you just want to scream but you have no one to scream or vent to. This is where a counselor comes in. At first it might feel strange going to tell all of your worries and troubles to a complete stranger but trust me, once you get talking there will be no stopping you. There are many other reasons why you would seek help from a counselor such as bereavement, trauma, anger issues, depression, anxiety, the list is endless. Talking is extremely underrated as a therapy because it sounds so simple, but when you think about it, how many times have you blurted something out that has been bothering you for so long or finally let yourself have a good cry over something you have been bottling up and then feel better for it? Unfortunately not everyone has someone they can blurt things out to though or it might be that they don't feel comfortable showing their feelings to the people around them. This is what makes a counselor so perfect to speak to. They won't judge you, they will be helping you with a situation that is completely new to them which enables them to put an outsiders perspective on things. You won't be interrupted and will be properly listened to with compassion and interest. But the therapy doesn't stop there! You will be able to build up a strong connection and relationship with your counselor so that they will be able to guide you through your troubles, offer advice and help to point you in the right direction of getting through your toughest times. You also might be wondering what makes ME a good talking therapy counselor? Well not only have I trained for it, but I have been through some of the worst life experiences possible so will be able to relate to A LOT of your own dark times and problems to guide you through it.
